Having the word ‘new’ in the title of anything has always been one of my pet hates, but I’ve always been a fan of Mario games and have owned every console Nintendo have ever produced. This game is the latest in the long series of Mario games produced by Nintendo and I picked it up just after it came out in November.
It’s the first Mario game since the Mario Bros. arcade game to feature simultaneous multiplayer action, with the ability to have up to 4 players on screen at the same time.
With classic 2D side-scrolling, koopa stomping action, this game certainly has the classic winning formula and also introduces new twists like the propellor and penguin suit.
Quite a biggy. It seems that Google has been having some problems with hacking attempts on the Gmail accounts of Chinese human-rights activists, possibly by the Chinese government, and because of this they want to stop the censoring of search results on the Chinese Google site. If the Chinese government doesn’t agree to this Google are threatenting to close the google.cn website and their offices in China:
“These attacks and the surveillance they have uncovered–combined with the attempts over the past year to further limit free speech on the web–have led us to conclude that we should review the feasibility of our business operations in China. We have decided we are no longer willing to continue censoring our results on Google.cn, and so over the next few weeks we will be discussing with the Chinese government the basis on which we could operate an unfiltered search engine within the law, if at all. We recognize that this may well mean having to shut down Google.cn, and potentially our offices in China.”
I’ve always had a soft spot for the Pandora handheld gaming console. That’s because it’s the first handheld console to be produced and developed on open source principles. Development started back in 2007 and even though it hasn’t quite started shipping yet it promises to be an extraordinary handheld.
The video below shows the console playing Super Mario 64:
For years I’ve been a fan of the motocross / trials game that has seen many different versions, all of which have been fiendishly addictive. I’ve just spotted (vid below) that there’s now an 3D version available on Xbox Live Arcade, and it looks awesome!
